Artist: VA Liverpool-based collective and event series Assembly steps into the recorded realm with Line 1, the inaugural release on the label and a four-track VA from its core affiliates. Acting as both statement of intent and sonic blueprint, Line 1 positions Assembly as a North-West UK interchange for techno muscle, fractured breaks, bass excursions and acidic bleep.
Spanning four cuts, Line 1 captures Assembly’s stylistically fluid yet club-focused ethos. The record opens with Puncta’s ‘Cuff’, a heavyweight sub-bass workout built for peak-time pressure. The Cyclist’s ‘Acid Twax’ follows with blown-out acid house textures, pushing distortion and groove into hypnotic territory. Emmett G’s ‘Onward’ channels chugging acidic bleep, nodding to UK lineage while carving its own forward motion.
Closing the EP, Strathearn’s ‘Pulse’ delivers intense, rolling techno energy designed to lock dancers deep into the red. While diverse in rhythm, tone and tempo, the release is cohesively engineered for smoke-filled dancefloors and hazy after-hours sessions. Each track reflects a different facet
of Assembly’s identity, yet collectively they form a unified vision rooted in sound system culture and underground community.
Founded in Liverpool, Assembly is a collective spotlighting the breadth of talent across the city and the wider North West electronic music scene. Bringing together artists of varied styles, genres and backgrounds, Assembly operates with a shared purpose: to platform forward-thinking club music while nurturing a collaborative regional network.
With Line 1, Assembly lays its foundations, not just as an event series, but as a label committed to documenting and amplifying the evolving underground of the UK North West.
